Designed and manufactured by G&G, GMG42 is a high-quality replica of the most recognizable and influential machinegun ever produced. Developed in 1942 as the successor to the MG 34 general-purpose machine gun, MG 42 was lighter, less complicated, easier to operate, and provided an overwhelming rate of fire. The distinctive sound caused by the high cyclic rate gave rise to a variety of fitting nicknames from all sides - Schnellespritze, Knochensage, Spandau, Buzzsaw, and Zipper. Made with the heavy use of metal stamping and frontline experience, MG 42 was fitted with a quick barrel change system and enlarged manipulators for ease of use during winter. Along with the gun, an array of additional equipment was developed as well - bipods, tripods, anti-aircraft mounts, and a plethora of ammunition cans and boxes. The initial production ceased with the end of the Second World War, but it is still manufactured worldwide in modified versions like the German MG3 and Austrian MG 74. It also served as a base for other designs - M60, AA-52, MG 51, and FN MAG.
This 1230mm long behemoth of a replica is fed from a detachable drum magazine with a capacity of 1700rds. It weighs around 10200g and shoots in a full-automatic mode only.
The replica is primarily made from steel with a small addition of polymers, aluminum, and wood. The only parts not made from steel are the wooden stock, the plastic pistol grip and bb feed tray, and the aluminum outer barrel. Everything else, like the body, barrel shroud, bipod, manipulators, and sights, is machined from steel. Just like the original firearm, GMG42 is equipped with a quick barrel change that enables an almost immediate field strip of the gun. The foldable bipod can be mounted in two places on the barrel shroud or unattached completely.
The custom gearbox is CNC machined from a single aluminum bloc. It can be accessed along with the hop-up chamber by opening the top cover and belt feed tray for maintenance or upgrades. The gun comes with a standard 50-round "Gurttrommel" drum magazine with a capacity of 1700rds and an additional mock 50-round non-disintegrating ammunition belt.
Thanks to superior craftsmanship, quality materials, and high performance, the GMG42 is an ideal choice for players looking for a premium-class replica for airsoft and historical re-enactment events.
